Grandmaster Ulvi Bajarani and International Master Ilgar Bajarani bring their tournament experience to 60 Instructive Wins by Bajaranis, a collection of complete games for players who want to understand the decisions behind a victory.
The book features 26 wins by Ulvi and 34 by Ilgar. Its annotations explain the ideas, plans and calculations behind the moves, helping readers follow how a position develops and why a player chooses one continuation over another.
What the book covers
The games explore strategic and tactical themes that competitive players encounter over the board:
- King safety, development advantage and attacking play
- Piece activation and pawn structures
- Isolated queen’s pawn positions and space advantage
- Opposite-colored bishops and bishop versus knight
- Positional play, positional sacrifices and tactics
Studying complete games puts these themes in context. Readers can follow the preparation of an attack, the development of a plan and the decisions that connect one phase of the game to the next.
Who the book is for
60 Instructive Wins by Bajaranis is intended primarily for players rated approximately 1500 FIDE Elo and above. It is aimed at readers who want to work through annotated tournament games and examine the thinking behind practical decisions.
How to study the games
Use the games as a training exercise rather than reading the annotations immediately. At a critical position:
- Pause before revealing the next move.
- Identify candidate moves and calculate the most important variations.
- Write down your evaluation and the plan you would choose.
- Compare your reasoning with the authors’ annotations.
- Note an idea or decision you want to revisit in your own games.
This approach gives you a record of your own thinking to compare with the commentary. You can return to difficult positions later and see whether you recognize the same plans and tactical possibilities.
