2026 April Tournament — Houston Circuit #4 Recap

The 2026 April Tournament—the fourth event of the 2026 Houston Chess Circuit—took place in Houston, TX, on April 12 at the Houston Chess Studio. The event brought together 12 players in a 6-round Swiss System format, with a time control of G/30, d10 (30 minutes per player with a 10-second delay per move).

Tournament Highlights

The tournament’s top seed, Joshua Ruiz, claimed 1st place with a perfect 6/6. Along with a commemorative plaque, he earned $400 and 13 circuit points. Tanay Ram Kurre finished 2nd with 5 points, earning $100 and 9 circuit points, while Weston Woodrome and Karthick Sivakumar tied for 3rd on 3.5 points and received 3 circuit points. All remaining players who completed every round without forfeits or withdrawals received 1 circuit point.
