Farid Abbasov

Farid Abbasov, an International Grandmaster since 2007 and FIDE Trainer since 2015, has an impressive career as both a player and a coach. He has secured victories in prestigious tournaments, including:

• La Fere Open (France, 2008)
• Urmia Open (Iran, 2009)
• Caspian Cup (Iran, 2010)

With over 25 years of coaching experience, he has mentored numerous notable players, including:

• Grandmaster Batuhan Dastan (2008–2012)
• Grandmaster Abdulla Gadimbayli (2010–2011)
• Woman Grandmaster Khayala Abdulla (2013–2014) – Two-time Azerbaijan Women’s Champion & former member of the Azerbaijan Women’s Olympic Chess Team
• Grandmaster Suleymanli Aydin (2015–2022) – Twice European Youth Champion, World Youth Champion U14, and double gold medalist at the World U16 Team Olympiad
