Intermediate Group Chess Course – Regulations & Registration
1. Course Overview
- Coach: GM Ulvi Bajarani
- Level: Intermediate – students already know all chess rules, including castling and en passant.
- Main focus: Basic tactical ideas that form the foundation for advanced play and more complex topics.
2. Who This Course Is For
This group is designed for:
- Unrated players, or those with the following approximate ratings:
- USCF rating up to 1000
- Chess.com rating up to 1000
- Lichess.org rating up to 1200
Experienced players and coaches are also welcome to join.
If you are unsure whether this group is suitable, please contact us for a short level evaluation before registering.
3. Format, Schedule & Group Size
- Format: Online via Google Meet.
- Day & time: Every Wednesday, 6:30–7:30 PM Central Time (Houston time)
- Lesson length: 60 minutes
- Course duration: 12 weeks, from January 7, 2026 to March 25, 2026
- Group size: Maximum 20 students.
- Tuition for the full course (12 lessons): $300
- Registration deadline: January 7, 2026, 5:30 PM Central Time (Houston time)
4. Attendance and Absences
- Please arrive on time. The Google Meet link will be sent 15 minutes before the start of the class. Log in at least 5 minutes before the start.
- If you must miss a class, inform us at least 2 hours in advance by email at info@azerichessacademy.com when possible. In this case, we will offer material and homework to cover the missed lesson.
- We do not offer make-up classes or refunds/credits for individual missed lessons; instead, we provide materials and homework to review the missed content.
- If the coach cancels a lesson, it will be:
- Rescheduled, or
- Credited/refunded if rescheduling is impossible.
5. Behavior & Classroom Etiquette
We want a focused, respectful training atmosphere.
Students are expected to:
- Listen to the coach and follow instructions.
- Respect other students.
- Keep quiet during explanations and analysis.
- Keep your microphone muted unless speaking.
- Keep the camera on (if possible) and have your real name visible.
- Avoid background noise, games, or distractions on screen.
The coach or Academy reserves the right to:
- Give a warning for inappropriate behavior.
- Ask a student to leave the lesson temporarily or remove them from the call if behavior does not improve.
- In serious or repeated cases, remove a student from the group. In such cases, unused lessons may be partially refunded at our discretion.
6. Homework, Practice & Tournaments
To get the best results from this curriculum, we recommend:
- Completing all homework puzzles and exercises each week.
- Playing games (online or over-the-board) and trying to implement skills acquired in the lesson.
Homework materials for each week will be provided in one or several of the following formats:
- PDF files
- PGN files
- Links to online puzzle sets and games
7. Parents’ Role (for juniors)
- Parents are welcome to:
- Communicate with the coach about behavior/attention issues or home practice expectations via email at info@azerichessacademy.com
- Remain off-camera to avoid distractions.
- During the lesson, coaching is done only by the instructor – please avoid giving chess advice to your child in the classroom or chat.
8. Photos, Videos & Privacy
- We may occasionally take photos or short videos of the lesson for Academy promotion (website, social media, flyers).
- By registering, the student consents to being photographed and recorded for promotional purposes.
- If you do not want your or your child’s image used in promotional materials, please inform us in writing (by email) before the course starts.
9. Refund & Cancellation Policy
- A 50% refund is available if cancellation is requested at least 24 hours before the first lesson. No refund is available after this time.
- If the Academy has to cancel the course completely, all unused lessons will be refunded.
- Tuition is for the full course; we do not prorate for late start.
- A seat is reserved only after payment is received.
