Grandmaster Sarhan Guliev, born on April 1, 1968, in Qubadli, Azerbaijan, has been a pillar of the chess world for decades. He earned his International Grandmaster title in 1995 and claimed victories at major tournaments including the Dubai Open (2007), A. Zaitsev Memorial in Vladivostok (1994), and the Azerbaijan Championship (1997). Representing his country, he competed in the 1994 and 1998 Chess Olympiads, demonstrating his strength at the highest level.
Elite Coach and FIDE Senior Trainer
Since 1988, GM Sarhan Guliev has been an influential chess coach, mentoring a generation of strong players. His students include GM Rashad Babaev and GM Elshan Moradiabadi. He has also served as head coach of national teams from Turkey and Iran. In recognition of his success as a trainer, he received the FIDE Senior Trainer title in 2011.
